The ideal candidatewill be responsible for appropriately evaluating the cost of aproject and evaluating the cost to take on that project.
Thecandidate will be familiar with our clients competitive advantagesas an organization and will be able to communicate those to thebenefit of the organization throughout the bidding process.
Responsibilities
- Producingcost estimates and proposals for structural steel bid projects andcost estimates for change orders on awardedprojects.
- Develop implement participate in andmonitor a plan for completing a material and labor takeoff fromstructural and architectural designdrawings.
- Take responsibility for complexprojects and routinely functions as the estimate teamleader.
- Review and verify completeness anddistribute project drawings and specifications to estimatorsassigned to the project.
- Obtain pricing for specialtyitems not contained in the estimating softwaredatabase.
- Generate estimate summaries and costrecap sheets in Excel.
- Develop preliminaryconnection design based upon member capacities and loadsprovided.
- Work with the Production Departmentto review and update estimating standards.
- Workovertime when required to make required biddates.
Qualifications
- Bachelorsdegree in Engineering Construction Management Architecture or atransferable technical field.
- 3 years ofrelated experience in steel industry.
- Familiarwith steel fabrication processes and techniques and advancedknowledge of construction elements. (welding andconstructability)
- Able to read analyze andinterpret complex design documents andspecifications.
- Ability to manage time well andwork on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Workswell with a team
- Experience with Excel andpreliminary connectiondesign.
