A boutique Real Estate and Commercial Litigation firm based in Fairfax, Virginia, seeks a qualified VA-barred associate attorney for a full-time position. The Associate will be responsible for researching and drafting motions, briefs and memoranda on various issues in the area of real estate and business law. This is a great opportunity for a starting attorney to learn complex civil litigation. Background knowledge in the following topics is required: Virginia civil litigation, drafting civil complaints, demurrers, pleas in bar, interrogatories, document production and depositions. The ideal candidate will have strong research and writing skills. Responsibilities: * Researching and drafting civil motions and preparing discovery, including demurrers, bills of particulars, interrogatories, document production and depositions * Attending Unlawful Detainers and Warrants in Debt return dates, and motion hearings * Research and draft memos on various topics related to civil litigation * Assist with preparing for depositions and trial, including gathering trial exhibits and preparing direct and cross examination templates. ​​Qualifications: * Judicial Clerkship or 1-year legal experience * Virginia Bar License Qualified candidates should submit a (1) cover letter with salary requirements; (2) current resume (with 3 references); and (3) 1 writing sample (500-750 words).
