Fox Cities Chamber is Hiring a Manager - Economic Development Near Appleton, WI

The Fox Cities Chamber is dedicated to fostering economic growth and prosperity in the region. With a strong focus on business development, community engagement, and collaborative partnerships, we strive to create a vibrant and sustainable environment for businesses to thrive.

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Manager of Economic Development. The successful candidate will lead our economic development efforts, driving initiatives to attract, retain, and expand businesses within our region. This role will also act as a resource for the economic development efforts of local municipalities and requires strategic thinking, strong leadership skills, and an understanding of economic trends and opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Talent Retention and Attraction: Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain a skilled workforce in collaboration with local businesses, educational institutions, and workforce development agencies.

· Business Attraction: Cultivate relationships with potential investors, site selectors, and other stakeholders to identify and pursue opportunities to attract new businesses to the region.

· Business Retention and Expansion (BRE): Conduct BRE visits with Fox Cities employers to better understand their needs and challenges, also serving as a liaison between businesses and local government agencies to address issues and facilitate solutions.

· Partnership Development: Collaborate with government agencies, educational institutions, industry associations, and other organizations to leverage resources and maximize impact. Build strong partnerships to support economic development initiatives and address regional challenges.

· Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitor economic trends, industry clusters, and competitive landscapes to inform decision-making and strategy development. Generate regular reports and presentations to communicate progress and outcomes to stakeholders. Provide regular reports to the CEO for presentation to the Board and other stakeholder groups.

· Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive economic development strategies aligned with the goals and objectives of the Chamber and local community.

· Other duties as assigned by the CEO.

The ideal candidate will:

· Present themselves professionally, as this role with interact with C-level executives, company representatives, elected officials, peers, and the public.

· Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and judgement in dealing with sensitive and confidential information, as well as possess the ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines.

· Be a self-starter with strong organizational, analytical and time management skills to be able to handle multiple projects and priorities, anticipate the needs of prospects and have good follow-through.

· Have strong presentation skills and understanding of economic development practices and principles.

· Have knowledge of local and state incentive programs, as well as the local commercial real estate market.

· Work exceptionally well independently and in a team environment and possess the ability to self-direct duties with minimal supervision.

· Be proficient in Microsoft Office suite programs and other applications and/or software programs as needed.

Education / Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, marketing, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
