The Assistant Warehouse Manager is responsible for assisting the Warehouse Manager with the oversight of all receiving, inventory, returns and distribution of publications for Fox Chapel Publishing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Point person for the oversight of all shipping, receiving, and packing room activities performed by warehouse team; maintains a high degree of visibility and access to employees on warehouse floor

· Maintains a working knowledge of all warehouse operations.

· Assists in resolution of warehouse-related issues with representatives from other department throughout the company.

· Reviews, prioritizes, and organizes all outgoing orders.

· Assists in managing and controlling inventory.

· Assists warehouse manager with development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures; ensures all established policies and procedures are followed by warehouse team.

· Leads by example and trains, motivates, and coaches crew.

· Assists in forecasting crewing needs to meet peak demands of the business and staff team accordingly.

· Coordinates with the warehouse manager to manage personnel issues and requests.

· Communicates any equipment issues as they arise to the Machinery, Maintenance, and Mechanical Technician.

· Performs administrative tasks as necessary.

· Must be able to work occasional overtime as assigned by management.

· Other duties as seen necessary.

Supervision:

The Assistant Warehouse Manager supervises the warehouse staff (Warehouse Associates and Picker/Packers) in the Warehouse Manager’s absence. This position does not have any direct reports.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma/General Education Degree (GED) with training, as well as 2 years’ warehouse experience with supervision duties. Or a combination of education, experience and training.

Cognitive Tasks:

Ability to comprehend, retain, and follow oral and written instructions. Can exercise good judgment, work independently, make decisions, organize and maintain information. Can effectively set priorities. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and invoices. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, talk, hear and smell. The employee must occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds and push and/or pull heavy carts up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus and be able to distinguish full visual color spectrum. May be required to wear protective clothing in the performance of assigned tasks.

Work Environment:

The primary work environment is a warehouse and shipping areas. At certain times, temperatures may fluctuate. The noise level is generally moderate but can become loud at times. This employee is exposed to moving equipment.

Language and Communication Skills:

Can read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language. Regularly communicates with manager, co-workers, other departments and delivery personnel.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to perform basic math skills (Add, subtract, multiply and divide).

Computer Skills:

Must be proficient in MicrosoftWord, Excel, and PowerPoint; others as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour
