Description: The Licensing Specialist is a key position and is expected to assist the Head Start Director and Special Education Director in assuring the Head Start and the Special Education Preschool programs are in compliance with Arizona Department of Child Care Licensing.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Associates of Arts degree or higher is preferred
• Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
• CPR and First Aid certification strongly encouraged
• Strong knowledge of technology including computers (Word, Excel, etc.) copiers, fax machines, printers, and other applicable office equipment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with others both in and out of the district
• Strong knowledge of the English language including reading, writing and oral communication Knowledge of Spanish including reading, writing and oral communication is desired
• Knowledge of mathematics and basic accounting procedures
• Ability to comprehend and perform functions from written and oral instructions
• Must be an energetic, highly ethical and possess good emotional and physical health

Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Governing Board or the Superintendent may deem appropriate

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Interpret and implement Arizona Department of Child Care Licensing regulations
• Monitor and maintain staff personnel files that meet Arizona Department of Child Care Licensing
• Attend annual trainings provided by Arizona Department of Child Care Licensing
• Monitor and provide oversight and guidance when necessary in the interpretation and implementation of standards for Arizona Department of Child Care Licensing
• Coordinate functions as needed and/or required in planning and implementing program objectives and requirements
• Complete and maintain current student files in accordance with licensing regulations
• Follow step-by-step activities as outlined in content area plans and policies and procedures
• Ensure that all safety regulations are implemented and performs all tasks in a safe manner
• Enforce administration policies and rules governing students
• Participate in district sponsored professional development workshops/inservices, attend on-going training classes and meetings as directed, and read professional journals and publications, etc. for continued professional development
• Maintain strict confidentiality and use appropriate discretion when working with all district personnel and student and family records and/or information
• Support and follow the rules, regulations and policies set by the School Board, the Day Care, Child Care and Head Start Programs, federal regulations pertaining to education and the District
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the School Board, the Head Start Director or his/her designee

Length of Employment:

• Twelve (12) months
• School calendar will determine the days worked during the school year.
