Four Star Greenhouse is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor. This person will join a relatively new team created as an outcome of our growth to centralize and optimize our procurement function in our Purchasing Department. This position will work under the leadership of our Purchasing Manager in a high visibility role that is critical to our operational and organizational success. This position will interface with leaders and staff from across the company to help develop and implement a procurement vision, metric-based strategy, create detailed supporting plans and monitor and directly manage inventory availability. This is a full time, on-site, salaried, exempt position with a competitive benefits package based in our Carleton, MI headquarters.

The Purchasing Supervisor coordinates with the Purchasing Manager to execute all purchasing functions across the organization. In this role you will develop and maintain a broad understanding of the company’s operational processes and sourcing of related core materials and services. You will develop and maintain positive open relationships with internal staff as well as counterparts at key suppliers to facilitate strong, lasting, and mutually beneficial partnerships. You will use measurable performance metrics rooted in quality, cost, delivery, and stability and help create tools to evaluate and optimize our base of vendors. As a proactive and forward-looking individual, you will develop familiarity with industry trends, supplier activities, risks, opportunities, and developments that serve as early warnings with potential to impact our suppliers’ ability to perform and act accordingly. You are technology-oriented with an aptitude for developing and maintaining a deep understanding of the company ERP (Picas) purchasing module functionality and underlying processes, quickly becoming a subject-matter-expert. From there you help drive the expanded use of system procurement tools to enhance information availability, decision making and performance. You will also collaborate with other leaders to identify procurement function industry best practices and implement them as formal written policies and procedures across the organization.
