Four Sisters Inns is Hiring a Houseperson, Part Time, Inn at Sonoma Near Sonoma, CA

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Houseperson is responsible for checking in guests, set-up and take down of afternoon F & B time, laundry, breakfast set-up, turn downs, guest services, overall kitchen clean up and any other miscellaneous jobs assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Greets guests of the inn with eye contact, a sincere smile and a personal greeting.

  • Reads chatbook and notes upon arrival and is fully aware of all that is required during shift.

  • Regularly checks all common and storage areas and maintains them in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Makes fresh coffee and boils water for carafe on an as-needed basis. Constantly checks for restocking of mugs, cream, sugar, spoons, napkins and necessary supplies at all times.

  • When walking around property, picks up trash, restocks supplies and tidies at all times.

  • Checks in guests and gives a complete tour, emphasizing all safety related issues and how to use features of the guestroom.

  • Follows the houseperson checklist step by step and thoroughly completes all responsibilities.

  • Brings any substandard conditions, including potential safety hazards to the attention of the Manager or Front Desk Person.

  • Turns in all lost and found articles to the Front Office.

  • Performs all duties in a quiet and orderly manner, bearing in mind at all times the sleep, comfort and satisfaction of all guests.

  • Must be flexible in scheduling and able to effectively communicate with Manager, Assistant Manager, co-workers and guests and helps to create a positive teamwork environment.

  • Uses equipment and materials in a safe and acceptable manner, follows established safety procedures, uses appropriate safeguards and observes common sense rules of safety in all on-the-job activities.

  • Conducts self in a manner reflecting credit on Four Sisters Inns and encourages others to do the same.

  • If under the age of 18, must not, under any circumstances, set wine or beer out in a public area for guests to help themselves to, serve wine or beer to guests, bus tables with partially emptied wine or beer glasses, deliver opened or unopened wine or beer to guestrooms.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Six months related experience and/or training is preferred but not required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to resolve problems as they arise. Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Familiar with the local area and surrounding cities. Ability to give directions and recommendations for local restaurants and tourist areas. Must possess exceptional interpersonal and guest service skills.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, office equipment, with kitchen tools and equipment, and in outside weather conditions.
