The Role of the In-Room Dining Server

The In-Room Dining Server is responsible for providing food and beverage service to guests in their rooms. The server is responsible for taking orders and delivering food and drinks and ensuring that guests are satisfied with their meal experience.

In addition, the server may be responsible for setting up and breaking down the in-room dining area, as well as maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work area.

Key Functions

Deliver food orders including any special needs or requests to the guest in-room, check completed kitchen orders with the order taker or guest’s original order;

transport items to the guestroom in a timely manner to ensure proper food quality.

Greet guests, describe selected items to the guest using interesting, and vivid descriptions of the each item’s, origin, taste, and preparation methods;

Breakdown, clean and set-up of room service tables, condiment set-ups, flatware, dishware, and room service side stations

Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and offer suggestions, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests

Properly and accurately close guest checks securing room number and signature; properly settle voided checks or complimentary meals

Carries all trays / trolleys from all side stand at regular intervals to kitchen to ensure work areas are free to work in

Performs light cleaning duties including wiping down service station, counters and shelves

Cleans and polishes silverware, during and after shift

Load trays / trolleys in proper manner and to carry them safety so that breakage is at minimum
