Fountain View of Lowell is Hiring a Life Enrichment Director Near Lowell, MI

Position Summary:

Responsible for planning, implementing, defining, and emphasizing life enrichment programs to encourage and stimulate residents' physical, cognitive, social, and spiritual needs. Responsible for producing and distributing the monthly community newsletter and activities calendar. May plan and assist in research projects. Accountable for the volunteer program.

Responsibilities:

Ø Develop cognitive, physical, social and spiritual programming that promotes each resident's quality of life.

Ø Develop, lead, and facilitate recreational programs appropriate for small groups, large groups, and one-on-one.

Ø Develop, lead, and facilitate intergenerational activities as directed.

Ø Coordinate life enrichment functions with department heads, staff, families, and volunteers.

Ø Create a monthly life enrichment calendar; distribute it to each resident; post it on the community bulletin board; and upload it to the community website.

Ø Solicit, coordinate and create material for the monthly newsletter; distribute to each resident; post to community bulletin board and upload to community website.

Ø Plan, organize, and implement resident outings and special events.

Ø Immediately communicate identified resident status changes to staff.

Ø Facilitate and conduct resident council meetings.

Ø Ensure bulletin boards are current and attractively decorated.

Ø Work with approved activities budget; maintain a running inventory of supplies and make approved purchases.

Ø Attend mandatory in-service meetings and continuing education opportunities as required.

Ø Adhere to SDS procedures regarding cleaners or other hazardous materials.

Ø Comply with universal precautions, infection control, isolation, fire, safety, and sanitation practices and procedures.

Ø Properly report any hazardous conditions and equipment, incidents, or accidents promptly.

Ø Understand, comply, with and promote Residents Rights, Safety, Supervision and Protection.

Ø Maintain confidentiality of resident health information as required by HIPPA.

Ø Display a caring, respectful and positive attitude when addressing residents, family members and co-workers.

Ø Identify and network within the community to recruit and retain volunteers; maintain a volunteer database.

Ø Participate in the interviewing and selecting Life Enrichment Manager and/or Coordinator if necessary.

Ø Conduct periodic performance evaluations; discipline and ensure necessary training of Life Enrichment Manager and/or Coordinator as required.

Ø Participate in resident care conferences as directed.

Ø Ensure a safe environment for residents, visitors, and co-workers.

Ø Support, reinforce, communicate, and defend the mission, vision, values, philosophy and culture of the organization.

Qualifications:

Ø Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Three years experience developing life enrichment programs and conducting activities for residents in a long-term care or assisted living setting OR a combination of education and experience.

Ø Proficient in Microsoft Office programs or equivalent.

Ø Strong written and communication skills

Ø Activity Director Certified, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or similar area preferred, but not required. First Aid and CPR training will be provided on the job.

General Requirements:

Ø Position reports to the Administrator

Ø Inside/Outside: 90% Inside, 10% Outside

Ø Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
