Overview

Foundry, publisher of Tech Advisor, PCWorld, Macworld and TechHive, is looking for a Staff Writer to join its Consumer Editorial team. In the role of Staff Writer, Tech Advisor, you will focus on mobile devices, covering smartphones, cellular networks, tablets, smartwatches, fitness trackers and a range of mobile accessories.

You will report on new and upcoming devices, add value for readers by researching the very best deals, provide tips, tricks and tutorials that help them to get the most from their mobile hardware and services, and produce highly engaging, personality-driven articles that generate interest. You will also thoroughly test mobile devices and services, from which you will craft expert product reviews and authoritative buying advice that feeds our Best Picks.

This role is located in our Needham MA office, with a hybrid work schedule or in an approved east coast US remote location.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Tech Advisor’s smartphone, mobile network, tablet, wearable and mobile accessory coverage. You will be expected to meet minimum content volume. requirements, and produce high-quality copy that ultimately drives page views, improves search rankings and increases affiliate revenue in the US/UK markets.
• Thoroughly test new mobile devices and accessories, producing expert reviews and authoritative buying advice with your findings, assisting with the maintenance of our Best Picks.
• Report on highly anticipated or recently released mobile devices and technologies.
• Find and write up the best mobile deals for the US market.
• Provide reader-friendly tips and tricks for mobile devices and technologies.
• Write engaging, personality-driven content that generates interest on Google Discover. and social platforms, reinforcing Tech Advisor’s position as a mobile authority and an opinion leader.
• Assist with updates to evergreen content.
• Some travel required to industry events.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of writing experience ( tech industry preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
• Excellent English-language communication skills.
• Deep knowledge of mobile technology and the US mobile market.
• Understanding of how content drives purchases.
• Understanding of how to make content perform inside and outside Google Search.
• Ability to interpret BI data and apply conclusions to content strategy.

Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process taking into account the experience, education, certifications and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated team members, as well as employer-verified region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. At IDG we are committed to fair and equitable pay practices. Expected salary, dependent upon experience and location is between $45,000 and $60,000 which includes base and bonus (if applicable).
