Overview

IDC/Foundry is seeking a Senior writer for our CIO.com business. The position reports to the Executive Editor. The senior writer’s coverage should make CIO.com a must-read destination for senior IT leaders by delivering articles tailored to help our audience better direct their organizations, IT strategies, and careers.

Coverage could include reporting on industry developments; rendering sharp analysis of IT news, research, or surveys; profiling the transformational efforts of CIOs; explaining complex technologies or concepts and connecting them to the broader business context; or examining trends of particular interest to IT leaders through more in-depth reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Writing a mix of clear, compelling, and insightful news, survey analyses, profiles, case studies, and short features, favoring CIOs as primary sources
  • Collaborating with CIO.com colleagues to ensure balanced and broad coverage that meets our senior IT leadership audience’s information needs
  • Cultivating a network of CIO and industry analyst sources
  • Participating in virtual and in-person events as necessary

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 plus years of full-time experience as a writer in a dynamic journalistic environment
  • The ability and eagerness to develop relationships with CIOs as primary sources is essential.
  • Demonstrate understanding of enterprise technology-enterprise applications, cloud, analytics, data management, AI, etc
  • Ability to source and interview CIO's directly
  • Provide writing samples that demonstrate the ability to craft compelling articles for a professional audience, including original analysis and interviews as primary sourcing. 
  • Self Starter and able to juggle multiple assignments to deliver timely compelling copy and headlines
  • Understanding of SEO and how to optimize content for digital traffic
  • Ability to develop and maintain industry sources, excellent reporting and rapid writing skills
  • This role can be based out of our Needham MA office in a hyrbird work environment or approved remote US or Candaian office(Ontario, BC, Alberta or Nova Scotia).

Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process taking into account the experience, education, certifications and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated team members, as well as employer-verified region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. At IDG, Inc., we are committed to fair and equitable pay practices. Expected salary, dependent upon experience and location is between $70,000 and $105,000 USD which includes base and bonus (if applicable).
