Provide constant and direct supervision of individuals at all times. Be vigilant and physically able to intervene during daily activities, transition times, and activities such as community outings, so as to the greatest extent practicable, protect against injury to the individual or to others.
Work with individuals in both a group setting and on a one to one basis.
Coordinate, plan and implement daily living skills lesson plans and activities.
Interact daily with parents, staff, and others in a professional manner, using appropriate, tactful and diplomatic language.
Adhere to and have the physical ability to immediately perform the use of pre-approved Restrictive Measures(CPI) when necessary whenever a individual becomes a danger to themselves or others. The use of restrictive measures is pre-authorized via the individual’s behavioral support plan and always falls within the parameters.
Combative behavior that may include:
Resisting care – for instance, aggressively hampering efforts at toileting or dressing.
Ability to react in an emergency and make sound, rational decisions, demonstrating good judgment and work in a hostile environment. Ability to work independently without supervision, supervise, and de-escalate individuals. Ability to interpret rules and regulations and make decisions without supervisory consultation. Ability to learn and apply foundation’s policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Ability to subdue using non - violent team control holds on disruptive individuals. Ability to prevent escapes of individuals. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the work, which may include the performance of strenuous tasks. Ability to take control of a volatile situation. Ability to observe critically, obtain accurate data, and prepare written records and reports. Must be able to adhere to Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training and carryout the standards.
Maintain a valid driver’s license.
Physical and mental skills and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position. Ability to work independently and without direct supervision within the community.
