Position: Lead Clinician/ Psychotherapist for the Wings Program

Job Description:

Forward Learning Youth and Young Adults (FLYY) is seeking a full time Lead Clinician/ Psychotherapist for our new first episode of psychosis wraparound program, Wings. Wings is a Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) program that provides support to youth and young adults experiencing first-episode psychosis. Through connections to community-based services, the Wings program is designed to instill hope and empower participants to lead a self-directed life within the community. This program is state-funded and comes at no cost to participants.

The Lead Clinician is a leadership position focused on providing direct support and oversight to the Wings program. The Wings program is a partnership between FLYY and Chrysalis and comprises of a multidisciplinary team including: case management, therapy, psychiatry, peer support, employment and educational support, skill development and occupational therapy. The Wings program and providers demonstrate a unique set of values that emphasize individualized, strength-based, trauma-informed, family-driven, community-based, and culturally sensitive care.

Responsibilities include:

1. Provide a continuum of mental health services to a diverse consumer population who have been accepted into the Wings program, including adolescents and adults who are clinically at high risk of exhibiting symptoms of psychosis.

2. Provide leadership and role modeling of the CSC service delivery model to ensure services are meeting the identified needs of individuals enrolled in Wings.

3. Assist with program development, including but not limited to mentoring and training new team members, engaging in problem-solving, training in and approval of documentation, as well as coaching Wings team members in creating and following best practices in adherence to policies and procedures for Wings.

4. Accept referrals into the program as part of the intake team and provide in depth screenings to determine eligibility.

5. Collaborate with the Wings multidisciplinary team and leadership members to develop and grow the Wings program.

6. Become certified and trained with the Dane County Comprehensive Community Support program (CCS). Approve assessment and recovery plans and participate on CCS teams as the Mental Health Professional.

7. Attend and actively participate in staffings and clinical consultation with the larger Wings multidisciplinary team.

8. Promote a strength based, person centered, culturally intelligent, and recovery focused philosophy of serving people with mental health and co-occurring needs.

9. Participate in state fidelity reviews in collaboration with the Wings leadership team.

10. Become trained and knowledgeable about psychosis, specifically a first episode, warning signs and how to support individuals and families when a loved one has a major change in functioning or has been given a diagnosis. Provide psychoeducation to individuals and families.

11. Maintain a caseload of youth and young adults for 1:1 therapy. Become certified in cognitive behavioral therapy for psychosis (CBTp)

12. Enter timely documentation into an online database.

Qualifications:

A master’s degree in counseling, creative arts therapy, family therapy or social work and a valid Wisconsin clinical license (LCSW, LPC, LMFT). You must be fully licensed for this position. A training license will only be considered if you are very close to achieving your full license.

Preferences:

A therapist with a dynamic clinical approach incorporating techniques such as mindfulness, somatic trauma processing, internal family systems, DBT, CBT, motivational interviewing, and nature-based therapeutic modality. Strong background in clinical counseling, crisis work, and leadership roles with youth and young adults and experience working with multidisciplinary teams. The work within the Wings team is centered on our participants and their families so being able to provide relationship-based care is integral to this position.

This position requires a strong foundation in trauma informed care of adolescents and young adults and a willingness to be flexible about therapeutic approach and the treatment setting. The position requires travel to most clients in their home or in the community but seeing clients in our office is also possible.

The ideal candidate will have experience in serving the LGBTQIA community and providing gender-affirming care to members of the transgender and nonbinary (TGNB) community.

Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a highly preferred skill for this position.

Eligible candidates must pass a Wisconsin caregiver background check and criminal history screening.

Hours: Full time 35-40 hoursMonday through Friday. A flexible schedule is important, particularly in after school hours, with the possibility of early evening hours.
