Description & Requirements

As a Managing Consultant, you will be assigned multiple clients and direct a team to actualize projects that FORVIS is hired to perform for the Nonprofit industry. You will also be responsible for the completion of various projects from planning to the final report to the client including but not limited to various client meetings, internal meetings, and project development. Projects could include grants management, accounting services, consulting, forecasting/projections, outsourced/interim controller duties, and finding solutions for Nonprofit clients, related to their financial systems, processes, and records.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for candidates who possess strong attention to detail, a consciousness of timelines, and stewardship and management experience. Devotion to client service is essential, including consistently positive interactions with clients and the demonstration of effective communication and expectation management techniques. The successful candidate will be a proactive worker with excellent project time management techniques and judgment necessary to keep the engagement executive apprised of client issues as appropriate.

How will you contribute:
  • Working on a variety of financial, accounting, and compliance projects, with a primary focus on the nonprofit industry
  • Overall project management, including planning, monitoring, and performing consulting projects in the areas of process improvement, operational assessments, compliance, and financial reporting
  • Reviewing and/or assisting with client accounting including:
    • General ledger and financial statement preparation
    • Monthly and year-end closing assistance
    • Account and bank reconciliations
    • Audit preparation services
    • Development of Accounting Estimates
  • Possess the knowledge and experience to review the organization's (or department) processes, policies, procedures, and internal controls in order to perform an operational assessment of the client's finance and related functions.
  • Experience and aptitude to present findings and client data in a clear concise manner to internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with interviewing personnel in a 1 on 1 setting to learn policies and procedures
  • Assisting with the development of policies and procedures
  • Cultivating engagement relationships with appropriate levels of client interaction
  • Maintaining calendar/meetings for client and team interactions
  • Performing industry and technical research for the development of new client solutions
  • Utilizing technology and best practices to improve internal processes
  • Assisting in guiding, developing, and coaching professional staff
We are looking for people with Forward Vision and:
  • The aptitude to communicate both up and downstream to team staff and exercise judgment in assessing client interactions and when to request additional technical accounting guidance
  • Technical accounting background paired with the experience to articulate changes to non-financial client personnel.
  • Experience necessary to oversee and prioritize multiple client projects, including monitoring project time budgets and consistently meeting or exceeding agreed-upon timelines
  • Demonstrated experience creating and editing formal written communication.
  • Advanced computer skills and aptitude to learn new accounting and other related software.
  • Strengths in financial and other data assessment.
  • Availability for occasional overnight travel
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 6 years or more of accounting and/or consulting experience with at least 2 years of experience in public accounting
  • Full-cycle accounting experience within the nonprofit industry
  • CPA license or eligibility for the CPA exam
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with multiple of the following, QuickBooks Online, Financial Edge and FENXT, Sage Intacct, Raisers Edge, and NetSuite
  • Private industry accounting department management role (Nonprofit or For-Profit)
  • Team management experience
