Fortitude Re is Hiring a Senior Associate, Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Near Nashville, TN

The Senior Associate of Business Continuity Planning (BCP) will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategies to ensure the resilience of the Company's Business Continuity program. Reporting directly to the AVP of Facilities and Real Estate, and a key member of the Chief Operating Officer team, the Senior Associate will lead the BCP team in assessing potential risks, developing comprehensive continuity plans in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements, and coordinating response efforts in the event of disruptions. The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional with a strong background in business continuity management and risk assessment. The Senior Associate’s primary goals will be to identify, document and test business needs against the Company infrastructure, identify BC strategies and gaps; maintain a robust BC framework in line with the company's growth.

What You Will Do:

  • Business Impact Assessment: Conduct walkthroughs and working sessions with cross functional teams to gather data, identify gaps, set recovery time objectives, and convey business needs/expectations.

  • Strategy Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain comprehensive business continuity plans aligned with organizational objectives.

  • Risk Assessment: Identify, assess, and prioritize potential risks and threats to business operations, considering both internal and external factors.

  • Plan Implementation: Oversee the implementation of business continuity plans, ensuring that all departments are adequately prepared to respond to disruptions.

  • Training and Awareness: Conduct training and awareness sessions to educate employees on business continuity procedures to enhance the company's preparedness and response capabilities.

  • Testing and Exercises: Coordinate and conduct regular testing and simulation exercises to evaluate the effectiveness of business continuity plans and identify areas for improvement.

  • Crisis Management: Lead the response and recovery efforts during actual incidents or emergencies, working closely with relevant teams to minimize the impact on business operations and reputation.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of the company’s Business Continuity Plan, Crisis Management Plan, Crisis Communication Playbook, and the Steering Committee Charter, and provide regular updates through reports to Steering Committee. Keep all documents current and maintain version control.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about industry regulations and standards related to business continuity and ensure the organization's compliance.

  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously assess and make recommendations for enhancement of the effectiveness of business continuity strategies, incorporating lessons learned from incidents and exercises.

  • Internal Audit: Comply with Internal Audit team’s inquiries and suggestions.

  • Disaster Recovery: Collaborate with the IT team in their efforts to identify critical applications and testing of recovery metrics.

  • State/Regulatory Filings: Maintain and file BCP and DR plans as per annual state filings and assist Legal/Compliance team with these filings.

  • Point of Contact: Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders during crisis or disruption, providing guidance and support. Assist the BCP and Crisis Management Steering Committee in the response and recovery efforts during incidents, ensuring that appropriate actions are taken to minimize the impact on the organization's operations and reputation.

What You Will Have:

  • Undergraduate degree

  • Experience (at least 4 years) in organizational business continuity planning, risk management, or a related role with a proven track record of success.

  • Strong knowledge of industry best practices, regulation, standards, and frameworks related to business continuity (e.g., ISO 22301).

  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently and with a team to drive projects to completion.

  • Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Results-driven, with an ability to work well under pressure.

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex situations and make informed decisions.

  • Experience in leading and facilitating crisis management exercises, simulations, and training.

  • Certification in Business Continuity (e.g., CBCP, CBCI) is highly desirable, or willingness to achieve.

  • Experience with insurance or finance corporations.

  • Experience in Organizational Project Management
