As an RMEI Fire Sprinkler Inspector at Fortis Fire & Safety, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and functionality of fire sprinkler systems in accordance with Texas state regulations and industry standards. You will be responsible for conducting inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems to ensure they are in compliance with all safety codes and regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Help with scheduling, advise and direct other employees in the field
  • Perform routine inspections of fire sprinkler systems in commercial and residential properties within the Houston, TX area.
  • Conduct functional testing, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems, including sprinkler heads, pipes, valves, and pumps.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, and maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with Texas state regulations and industry standards, ensuring all inspections and maintenance activities are in accordance with these requirements
  • Interact professionally with clients and provide clear explanations of inspection findings, necessary repairs, and maintenance recommendations.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues with fire sprinkler systems, making necessary repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Be available for emergency response situations, including after-hours calls, to address urgent fire sprinkler system issues.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Highschool diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years experience inspecting fire sprinkler systems
  • Must hold a valid RMEI (Registered Master Fire Equipment Inspector) certification, issued by a recognized certifying body in Texas.
  • In-depth knowledge of Texas fire codes, NFPA standards (25, 13, 16, 20, & 72), and industry best practices related to fire sprinkler systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate inspection findings and recommendations to clients.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate inspection and reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the inspection and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Preferred

  • Certifications/Licenses – FAL, FEL-K, B-PAT

Compensation $32-$37/hour depending on experience

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand for 8 hours, walk, sit, and climb stairs, or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
