As the Fire Alarm Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of our fire alarm department, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and regulations in the state of Florida. You will lead a team of 20-30 individuals, including 5 direct reports, and will be tasked with coordinating and executing various fire alarm projects, maintenance, and service activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently manage day-to-day responsibilities of the department to ensure that it runs smoothly and profitably
  • Manage and supervise a team of 20-30 fire alarm professionals, including 6 direct reports, providing guidance, support, and leadership to ensure the successful execution of all departmental functions.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of fire alarm system installations, inspections, and maintenance projects, ensuring all work is completed in compliance with state regulations and company standards.
  • Ensure that all Service Requests and Quote Requests are closed out in a timely manner and are completed accurately, while maintaining a goal that there are no open requests older than 30 days
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their concerns and inquiries in a timely and professional manner, while ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service.
  • Coordinate with the sales and marketing teams to identify potential business opportunities and participate in the development of proposals and bids for new fire alarm projects.
  • Monitor departmental performance metrics, analyze trends, and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
  • Handle all personnel issues for the team, including performance evaluations and both verbal and written warnings for disciplinary reasons
  • Evaluate staffing requirements and make proactive recommendations to leadership on the needs of the department
  • Ensure that all team members receive appropriate training and adhere to safety protocols and industry best practices, promoting a culture of safety and compliance within the department.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and changes in regulatory requirements, and implement necessary adjustments to ensure the department's continued success and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and foster a collaborative working environment that promotes teamwork and excellence.
  • Implement strategies and training programs to nurture and develop department members that align with company goals and objectives
  • Act as a mentor by providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the team meets company goals and expectations
  • Uses provided statement of work, specifications, and blueprints to ensure systems are properly installed, tested, and repaired based on building layout and setting
  • Some emergency service required if existing staff is not available or qualified

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the fire alarm industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of Florida fire codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Possess or be able to obtain an EF License for the state of FL.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools used in fire alarm system management and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BDA/Low Voltage non-Fire Alarm experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, fire protection, or a related field or equivalent work experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team member is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The Team member is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs, or balance. The Team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
