We are currently looking to ad a Fire Sprinkler Apprentice, which is a full-time position that supports foreman and other team members with the installation of fire sprinkler systems on various types of construction projects including tenant improvement, new construction, underground and retrofit projects. Fire sprinkler systems can mean life and death so quality of work and attention to detail is important. A fire sprinkler apprentice duties include pipe fabrication, the ability to complete various job site tasks efficiently, operate hand and power tools, follow workplace procedures, and to adhere to the company safety policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support with the installation of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Follow safety regulations, including wearing safety equipment. 
  • Follow the company and industry standardized practices and/or methods.
  • Attend training, safety, and education meetings for the purpose of enhancing knowledge of safety concerns and resolving related issues. 
  • Work with integrity to uphold organizational values.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license without restrictions.
  • High School diploma/GED
  • Basic understanding of measurements.
  • Read and understand drawings, blueprints, and fire codes.
  • Knowledge on how to operate various electrical and mechanical tools such as saws, wrenches, cutting torches, drills, pipe threader, lifts, ladders, and motor vehicles.
  • Adhere to safety practices.
  • Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license without restrictions.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation both written and electronic (timesheets, work tickets, and inspection reports, etc.).
  • Communicate clearly.
  • Solve practical problems.
  • Set priorities.
  • Meet deadlines and schedules.
  • Flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances.
  • Work with frequent interruptions. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 years of fire sprinkler experience and 
  • Knowledge of NFPA13 
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certified preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Stay on feet all day.
  • Lifting / carrying 50 pounds with no fear of climbing or heights.
  • Work in elevated areas for extended periods
  • Stamina for consistent tasks such as, lifting, reaching side to side and overhead, climbing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting and bending. 
  • Repetitive hand and finger movements (simple and power) such as grasping, pushing, pulling, and reaching. 
  • Operate foot controls or repetitive foot movement.
  • Cut, thread, assemble, and bond pipe according to equipment specifications.
  • Secure pipes to structures with clamps and brackets using hand tools.
  • Ability to work under any weather condition in outdoor and indoor environments.

Compensation: $16 - $22

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs, or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
