Forterra Building Products is Hiring a Dispatcher Near Independence, MO

Dispatcher-Independence, MO

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Dispatcher to join our Independence, MO team. This role with help facilitate accurate, on-time delivery of quality concrete products while balancing customer service and shipping costs. The position will reside at the Independence plant. This position complies with all safety regulations and adhere to the company’s OSHA safety guidelines. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor, record, and prioritize the shipment of all finished goods.
  • Make proactive contact with customers to set up delivery, service and delivery load tickets.
  • Manage delivery dates and coordinate delivery of product with in-house scheduling, plants and hauling.
  • Notify sales and/or the customer immediately of delays caused by others.
  • Generate daily reports.
  • Assist with plant clerical functions.
  • Regular, timely attendance to meet company needs in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Other duties as assigned: Performs special projects or assignments as directed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience in customer service, manufacturing, transportation or construction.
  • Basic knowledge of civil engineering concepts.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to solve problems proactively, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively both orally and in writing to all levels of people inside and outside the organization professionally.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and shipping processes.
  • Knowledge of precast concrete industry or underground construction desirable.
  • Proficiency with computer programs including: Dispatch Application, Syteline (ERP) system, Microsoft Word, Excel Outlook, Internet, Google Earth, Adobe and other database applications.
  • Demonstrated success in balancing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated pattern of positive attitude, strong work ethic and dedication.
  • Ability to apply effective time management and self-management skills. Ability to be flexible and productive in an environment with regular interruptions.
  • Understanding of DOT regulations and specialized haul equipment desired.
  • Possess thorough, organized, strong data entry skills and detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license and ability to travel 5 percent of the time.
