JOB SUMMARY:

Maintain the buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure safety and cleanliness of the County fairgrounds. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.

• Responsible for having the buildings and grounds ready for events at the fairgrounds.
• Clean the buildings which includes sweeping and scrubbing the floors, wiping the tables and chairs, cleaning the restrooms and kitchens.
• Clean outdoor restrooms and make necessary repairs including electrical and plumbing.
• Operate tractor, forklift, and other equipment as needed.
• Operate basic lawn equipment. Mow grass, weed eat, and spray weeds.
• Repair equipment as necessary.
• Pick up trash from parking lot and grounds.
• Responsible for opening and closing the buildings during a two week on call period which includes two weekend duties. During this time, you will be responsible for assisting the customers and vendors.
• Paints and repairs woodwork and plaster.
• Sets up and operates machine tools, or repair or fabricate parts.
• Maintains arena and barn area as required which includes watering and dragging for events. Assist with cleaning stalls and pens. Held responsible for equipment used, uniforms issued, and county phone.
• Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers

• High School Diploma/GED.
• 6 months job related experience.
• Basic skills in operation of lawn and building care equipment.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with other employees and the public.
• Requires understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved verbal and written instructions; complete printed forms and make notes; perform routine mathematical calculations.
• Availability to open and close the buildings as needed including some weekends.

SALARY RANGE: $15.71 - $19.64 hourly based on qualifications
