Summary of Position:

The Corporate Accounting Staff Accountant role will report to the Accounting Manager and will help drive month end close and implement process change within the accounting team. Primary responsibilities will include cash account reconciliations, analysis of prepaid assets, accounting for fixed assets, leases, intangible assets, and analysis of collaboration commissions, royalties and affiliate fees. Other responsibilities involve process and system improvements, management reporting and analysis, and supporting other functions within the accounting team as well as the broader organization.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Lead in month-end closes by analyzing activity for assigned accounts (cash, prepaids, fixed assets, leases, intangible assets, collaboration / royalty / affiliate marketing expenses), preparing journal entries, and reconciling general ledger accounts for assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts (65%)
  • Perform timely bank account analysis to ensure cash receipts, disbursements, chargebacks, and bank and merchant fees have been properly reflected in the general ledger and prepare daily cash summaries for the CFO and executive management team – 10%
  • Oversee the accounting of capital and intangible assets, including recording the cost of newly acquired fixed assets, tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for capital leases – 10%
  • Collaborate with FP&A to perform financial statement analysis and document meaningful explanations for fluctuations to help management make business decisions – 10%
  • Other ad hoc projects include but are not limited to (5%):
    • Develop and implement process improvements, document desktop procedures and processes to achieve efficiencies
    • Support external audit requirements
    • Assist management in completing special projects and analyses on an ad-hoc basis

Key Working Relationships:

  • Accounting and FP&A team members
  • Business leaders, including wholesale sales and DTC

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance required
    • 2 years of related professional experience
    • Consumer products or manufacturing industry experience is preferred, but not required
    • Netsuite experience preferred, but not required
    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Team player and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

Additional Information:

FORMA Brands takes a market-based approach to pay, and amounts will vary depending on your geographic location. The salary range reflected here is for positions based in the Greater Los Angeles area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future without notice.

Compensation Range: $48,959 - $73,438
