The Chief Operations Officer will provide a pivotal leadership role within the organization; will focus on the day-to-day execution of strategic goals and objectives; will be responsible for developing, evaluating and improving Forgotten Harvest’s operational capacity, processes and infrastructure to provide exceptional impact in the community.
Core Responsibilities Include
  • Recruit, motivate and lead a high-performance team whose responsibilities encompass operations that include warehouse, transportation, facility management, food sourcing, client services, and safety.
  • Offer advice, guidance and direction on how to feed those facing food insecurity through operational policies, continuous process improvement strategies and new initiatives. Foster and support an environment of solutions, accountability and successful outcomes.
  • Identify and drive change initiatives that improve operational workflow and productivity while maintaining focus on adding value to the end-client.
  • Represent Forgotten Harvest during community projects and participate in meetings and committees as appropriate.
Examples of What You Will Help Others Accomplish
Facilities Management, Distribution Center Warehouse Management, Safety and Security
  • Effective management of all warehousing and food distribution operations.
Food Sourcing
  • Strong food sourcing activities for donated product to meet the food insecurity need in our community.
Client Services
  • Ensure partnership within the community to distribute food to those in need. Maintain compliance with Feeding America and all applicable food safety best practices and regulations.
Transportation and Warehousing
  • Manage shipping and receiving functions including food handling and storage.
Qualifications Include
  • 7 years’ supply chain management experience in transportation, distribution and/or freight management
  • 7 years’ experience managing full P&L
  • A degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related operations discipline (Masters preferred)
  • Integrity, enthusiasm, perspective, flexibility
  • The intellectual depth, maturity, wisdom, and collaborative skills to garner the trust and confidence of donors, volunteer leaders, staff, and other constituents
  • A desire to be a part of an innovative, entrepreneurial organization with the ability to prioritize, move quickly, and maintain strong follow-through in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to groom and grow others
  • Superior writing and oral communication skills; ability to understand and translate information for intended audiences with clarity, crispness, and elegance
  • Learn a deep appreciation for, and an ability to articulate, the mission of the Forgotten Harvest
