Position Details

· Seasonal, part time Gardener, 30 hours or less per week.

· Hourly range $18 - $20/hr.

· Responsible to Golf Course Superintendent.

· Months of employment: mid-April – mid-October, weather pending.

Description

Forest Hills Country Club is an 18-hole, private club located in Rockford, Illinois seeking a skilled and passionate Gardener to join our team. As a Gardener, you will be responsible for the cultivation and maintenance of our beautiful gardens and outdoor spaces. Your expertise and eye for detail will contribute to creating a serene and stunning environment for our membership and guests to enjoy.

Responsibilities

· Designing and implementing landscape plans to enhance the aesthetic appeal of our gardens.

· Planting, pruning, and maintaining a wide variety of plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees.

· Regularly assessing the health of plants and performing necessary maintenance tasks such as watering, fertilizing, and pest control.

· Conducting soil analysis and making recommendations for improvements to ensure optimal plant growth.

· Keeping garden beds and pathways clean and free of weeds and debris.

· Collaborating with other team members and Golf Course Superintendent to plan and execute seasonal garden displays and events within budget.

· Safely operating and maintaining gardening tools and equipment such as pruners and leaf blowers.

Requirements

· Proven experience as a Gardener or in a similar role.

· Extensive knowledge of plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees commonly found in the region.

· Strong understanding of landscape design principles and techniques.

· Ability to operate and maintain gardening tools and equipment safely.

· Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetically pleasing garden design.

· Physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks in various weather conditions.

· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

· Flexibility to work weekends or evenings as needed.

· High school diploma or equivalent. Additional horticulture or landscaping certifications are a plus.
