In this position…

The Movable Glass Systems Supervisor is responsible for the development & implementation of glass, glass seals, window mechanisms, and door appliques into vehicle side closure systems. In this role, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for the design & release of movable glass systems from pre-program through post-launch, including ongoing maintenance. You will also drive the Product Development process (Design, Development, Validation, and Launch) of the Movable Glass systems and components, achieving compliance of requirements (SDS, Design Rules, and Regulatory), managing attributes (package, design feasibility, NVH, water management, craftsmanship, freeze, safety) and delivery of financial, weight, and quality targets. In addition, you will oversee the development of the core requirements, design rules, health charts, SCCAF’s, DFMEA’s, quality documents, tools, and best practices.

What you'll do...

  • Guide & oversee development of Movable Glass Systems
  • Guide development of Movable Glass System tools, methods & processes
  • Support development & ongoing maintenance of Movable Glass System specific standards & specifications
  • Lead development & deployment of all Movable Glass System documents including DFMEAs, SCCAF, Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagrams, & DVP&Rs 
  • Lead design reviews based on Failure Mode Avoidance
  • Develop ESOW (Engineering Statement of Work), EC (Engineering concepts) and participate in the Sourcing Process (SOBA, ED&T review, piece and tooling cost review and CPA)
  • Drive prevent recurrence process for Movable Glass systems and components
  • Mentor & coach your team
  • Collaborate & guide teams on selection & execution of Movable Glass system solutions 
  • Ensure overall quality of project solutions throughout the design process
  • Share and present work to cross-functional teams and executive leadership
  • Work collaboratively with electrical team to ensure performance of window controls system and calibration
  • Lead validation and sign off for all testing and compliance documents
  • Lead teams through problem solving 8D process for issues found during builds and launch

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering or related field 
  • 5 years of experience in Movable Glass design & release
  • An aptitude for developing people & processes
  • Digital Buck and/or CATIA V5 capable
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders including program teams, purchasing, manufacturing, attribute teams, interfacing teams, STA & suppliers
  • Proven ability to manage large, complex workload
  • Detailed understanding of materials, manufacturing technologies, and GD&T
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues and effectively communicate to management
