Summary

• The CAD/BIM Technician I is an entry level position. At this level, the CAD/BIM Technician I will begin learning Forcum Lannom Contractors (FLC) policies and procedures for drafting, filing, and computer systems while assisting other design team members. Duties will include assisting in scoping out a project, preparing base concept plans, sections, and schedules. Instructions as to the project goals will be provided by design team members and will include copying details, changing drawings from mark-ups, preparing sketches, layouts, and plans from information provided by the design team. The CAD/BIM Technician I has limited knowledge of Architectural Codes and Concepts but will assist in performing plan layouts for ADA elements, egress requirements, and space planning under the direction of design team members.
• The CAD/BIM Technician I will work with Design Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other CAD/BIM Technicians to manage and create all drafted / modeled documentation and drawings associated with projects. The documentation and drawings will primarily be created using Revit or AutoCAD, and the scope of the job will span all elements of the project inclusive of assisting design team in gathering the project requirements, preliminary and final design / drafting, proper filing and management of drawings, printing, plotting uploading, and recording record drawings of projects.

Responsibilities

CAD/BIM Operation/Drafting

• Prepare design drawings, and details, from sketches, concepts or mark-ups provided by Design Manager, Engineer, or Designer. Draw and plot drawings to scale, as required.
• Work under the direction of the Design Manager, Engineer, or Designer to design project drawings, construction documents, routine design layouts, life safety plans and detailed drawings showing owner furnished equipment.
• Assist in preparation of site plans, floor plans, door, window, room finish schedules and learn how to cut sections and details as dictated by Design Manager.
• Make changes as directed from marked up PDF documents using Adobe, Blue Beam, or similar electronic project management software to keep projects current.
• Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, in-house seminars and presentations and reviewing relevant technical publications.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Develop an understanding of HP plotter software and troubleshooting.
• Work as part of a collaborative team to balance workloads and ensure quality deliverables are produced on time.
• Adhere to FLC s practices, policies, and procedures for document revision.
• Limited travel may be required (Local projects for training experience)

Qualifications

Experience Required

• AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred, or entry level will be considered.
• Basic understanding of civil, architectural, structural design fundamentals and practices
• Basic knowledge of construction industry, engineering principles, general math, trigonometry, geometry, and construction materials
• Strong written and verbal communication skills (spelling grammar and clarity of communication)
• Computer proficient with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Education Required:

• Associate degree in Drafting Technology. Drafting certificate from accredited technology school or equivalent work experience.

• Reports to Engineering Manager through Design Manager, Engineer, or Designer.
