Industrial Millwrights in Nevada

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, assemble, and test new machines and equipment; understand and follow blueprints and manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Align and adjust moving parts to meet operational specifications and tolerances.
  • Replace defective parts of machinery as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational training or an apprenticeship as a millwright.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and other high-precision technical skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Experience in using various hand and power tools, welding equipment, and measurement tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow safety procedures diligently.

Work Environment:

  • Industrial millwrights in Nevada typically work in physically demanding and potentially hazardous environments.
  • Workers may be required to stand for long periods, handle heavy objects, and work in uncomfortable positions.

Education and Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
  • Completion of a millwright apprenticeship program or an associate's degree in industrial maintenance or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Certifications such as the Journeyman Millwright certification can be advantageous.

Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a millwright or in a mechanical maintenance role is often required, typically 2-5 years, depending on the complexity of the position.
  • Experience with specific types of machinery relevant to the hiring industry (e.g., CNC machines in manufacturing or heavy machinery in mining).

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Skilled in the use and maintenance of a wide range of tools, including precision measuring instruments and electrical and mechanical diagnostic equipment.
  • Familiarity with welding and fabricating techniques.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, and robotic systems maintenance and repair.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of performing physically demanding work including lifting heavy objects, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to work in various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and heights.

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose malfunctions and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to assess and repair complex machinery quickly and efficiently.

Communication Skills:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills to interact with coworkers and document work and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to follow instructions and also effectively communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.

Attention to Detail:

  • High attention to detail for ensuring the accuracy and quality of work performed.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety standards and operational protocols to minimize the risk of injury and equipment damage.

Safety Skills:

  • Knowledge of and adherence to workplace safety standards and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Experience with safety protocols for handling hazardous materials or operating within hazardous environments.

Flexibility and Availability:

  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the employer.
