Foothills Child Advocacy Center is Hiring a Program Director Near Charlottesville, VA

Overview:
The Program Director is responsible for the successful delivery of day-to-day direct program services and the implementation of best practice protocols. They provide supervision and support to the Forensic Interviewer(s), Family Advocate(s) and intern(s) and facilitate multidisciplinary team (MDT) case reviews.

Duties:

  • Support Foothills mission by working collectively and cohesively with other team members, stakeholders and community partners, creating and maintaining a positive, collaborative working environment
  • Participates in the hiring process for program staff
  • Supervise program staff, including determining workloads and schedules, addressing their secondary trauma, evaluating their performance, providing mentoring, feedback, training and support
  • Ensure regular meetings are held with the program staff to facilitate teamwork and oversight of the program goals
  • Develop protocols and procedures as needed, ensuring the program meets the National Children's Alliance standards, the Virginia Code and MDT protocols
  • Coordinates MDT meetings as needed
  • Ensure best practice methods are consistently implemented
  • Maintains positive relationships with MDT members and agencies, identifies needs and gaps in the MDT process and the community and works with the CEO, staff, and MDT on strategies to address them
  • Consistently attend MDT meetings to monitor program and partner engagement and service delivery
  • Identifies MDT training opportunities and organizes trainings and conferences with the assistance of other staff as needed
  • Oversees MDT Lunch & Learn sessions
  • Tracks MDT training for mental health professionals and Foothills staff
  • Ensures program staff receive necessary training and opportunities for continuing education
  • Develop and maintain interagency relationships between local law enforcement, Department of Social Services, Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, UVA Medical Center, and other partners
  • Communicates regularly with the CEO and shares information about protocol development/revisions, needs, gaps in services, and challenges
  • Meet regularly with the CEO to ensure cohesion and teamwork
  • Provide forensic interviews or family advocacy services as needed
  • Oversees program data including OMS surveys and prepares reports as needed
  • Develops materials that will assist child victims and their families
  • Participates in public education and outreach
  • Represents Foothills on community taskforces and committees
  • Attends staff meetings, conferences, and training

Minimum Requirements:

  • An affinity and commitment to the Foothills mission
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field or equivalent experience
  • At least two years of experience working in the field of child protection, child maltreatment, sexual assault, or with children and families who have experienced trauma
  • Knowledge of family violence, substance abuse, and the dynamics of child sexual victimization and team dynamics
  • Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role
  • Valid driver's license and proof of liability insurance
  • Must successfully complete criminal and civil background checks
  • Able to critically solve problems in high stress, emergency situations
  • Understanding of the Children’s Advocacy Center model and child abuse investigative process
  • Highly sensitive to the needs and welfare of children and caretakers who have experienced physical and/or sexual maltreatment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals
  • Ability to develop logical and creative solutions and be responsible for making sound decisions
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to operate recording equipment (training provided)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team, preferably the Children’s Advocacy Center model
  • Experience as a Forensic Interviewer
  • Experience with NCATrak

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
