Foot & Ankle Specialists is Hiring a Lab Tech (Part-Time) Near Bountiful, UT

Job Summary:

  • Handles all infectious disease testing with a goal of providing 100% accuracy when handling all samples. Performs all essential functions such as laboratory safety, workflow reporting of samples, maintaining Infectious Disease Lab metrics, and provides effective communication with laboratory management.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Performing sample prep, DNA extraction and PCR as needed.
  • Running KingFisher Duo and QuantStudio 3.
  • Performing manual pipetting steps with small volumes and into a 96 well plate.
  • Reviewing and assisting Quality Department with workflow updates and ensuring SOPs are up to date.
  • Extract protein, DNA and/or RNA from nail and wound tissue.
  • Sample analysis.
  • Data recording and analysis.
  • QC analysis.

Working Conditions

This is a hands-on laboratory-based position that requires onsite work

Qualifications:

Education –

  • 16 semester or equivalent quarter units of molecular biology, life science or analytical and biochemistry.
  • 18 semester or equivalent quarter units of biology, which must include microbiology.

Experience –

  • High complexity PCR laboratory experience required.
  • Basic understanding of the data and internal controls.
  • Basic understanding of sterile technique and cleaning necessary for a PCR Lab.
  • Ability to perform tissue extraction manually and on automated platforms.
  • Proficient in qPCR.
  • Experienced using sterile technique and molecular assay handling.
  • Experience in quality control a plus.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
