JOB SUMMARY

Performs basic general laboratory tasks such as preparing solutions or media,cleaninglaboratoryequipmenttoincludeglassware,metalinstruments,sinks,tables,andtestpanels.Routine maintenance and other general duties as required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Mixwater,detergentsand/oracidsincontainertopreparecleaningsolutionaccordingtospecifications

• Wash,rinse,dry,andsterilizeglasswareandinstruments

• Scrubwalls,floors,shelves,tables,andsinks

• Filltubesandbottleswithspecifiedsolutionsandapplyidentificationlabels

• Deliversuppliesandlaboratoryspecimenstodesignatedworkareas

• Prepareandmaintainbacteriologicalmediaandchemicalsolutions,utilizingproperlabeling,handling,storage, use, and disposal of solutions, including autoclaved and hazardous waste

• Useahotplateorotherequipmenttohomogenize,extractorotherwisepreparemedia

• Assistingwithmanagingprioritiesandschedulesuchthatindividualgoalsaswellasteam goalsare achievedwith encouraged participation in the Food Safety Net Services Team

• Responsibleforthesafetyofoneselfandothersworkingwithintheirarea

• Responsibleforthecompletionofrequiredtraining

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Highschooldiplomaorgeneral educationdegree(GED);oroneto threemonthsrelatedexperience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Readandcomprehendsimpleinstructions,shortcorrespondence,andmemos.Abilitytowritesimple correspondence
• Effectivelypresentinformationinone-on-oneandsmallgroupsituationstocustomers,clients,andother employees of the organization
