The Graphic Designer works in conjunction with the organizational Communications & Public Policy Team to advance the public image of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina (the Food Bank) and its mission through relevant and consistent graphic design and branding. Primary responsibilities include collaborating across the organization to create communication, educational, and marketing materials for public events, digital platforms, and promotions for both regional and organization-wide campaigns, diligently promoting adherence to branding guidelines, and creating and maintaining internal informational materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops materials and assets to drive awareness of food insecurity in our service area and Food Bank mission and services to promote engagement, advocacy, and support.
  • Responsible for conceptualizing, producing, and delivering organizational marketing material, visual identifiers and collateral, including but not limited to newsletters, annual reports, fact cards, flyers, posters, postcards, mailers, print ads, banners, invitations, sponsorship packets, print and digital ads, etc.
  • Collaborates with branches to find effective and innovative ways to promote their services and stories.
  • Develops promotional materials for annual Food Bank campaigns such as Stop Summer Hunger, Holiday Meals Drive, Sort-A-Rama, Hunger Action Month, etc.
  • Creates materials for fundraising opportunities such as Giving Tuesday, Chef’s Feasts, etc.
  • Utilizes current design and technology trends for opportunities to further Food Bank’s mission.
  • Supports the Digital Strategy Manager and the Digital Content Coordinator with social media and web graphics.
  • Organizes and maintains stock photography purchased by the Food Bank.
  • Participates in the strategic development of improved communications and branding.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with local printers and online vendors.
  • Oversees print management (including getting quotes for projects, approving proofs, ordering and delivery) process with selected vendors.
  • Creates and maintains organizational materials (Employee Manual, service territory maps, etc.).
  • Supports translation services for materials as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Graphic Design or a related field is preferred; however, an equivalent combination of education, including, but not limited to Adobe Certified Associate (ACA), Adobe Certified Expert (ACE), or Abroad certifications, and experience could meet hiring qualifications.
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in a Graphic Designer capacity.
  • Must be proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of creativity.
  • Works well in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent grammar and proof-reading skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision.
  • Complete understanding of file types, image resolution and color theory.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Possesses problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide design best-practices.
  • Self-motivated to improve and/or learn new skills.
  • Must believe in the mission of the organization.
