Title Food Sourcing Coordinator

Department: Food Sourcing

Reports to: Food Sourcing Manager

Location(s): Bronx Warehouse

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Food Sourcing Coordinator will provide support in tracking donations, providing reports, freight bidding and scheduling. The candidate will provide donor acknowledgments and serve as a liaison between the drivers and the warehouse management team to ensure quality product is received. The Food Sourcing Coordinator also assists with coordinating volunteer /donor events with the Corporate Engagement team as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sourcing – 80%, Corporate Engagement 20%

Coordination, Quality Assurance, Communication:

  • Coordinate and schedule the sourcing and procurement of local produce
  • Partner with Food Bank’s nutritionist team for appropriate training to ensure product returned to the warehouse by donation drivers meets food safety standards and guidelines
  • Assist in resolving pick up or delivery issues
  • Field donor calls for all Food Sourcing programs, helping to fulfill donation requests and respond to general donation inquiries
  • Schedule and support training for donation drivers to ensure compliance and quality of donated product

Reporting:

  • Generate statistical reports to assist in the analysis of food donation trends, assessment of current and future needs and determination of resources needed to achieve program and departmental goals
  • Utilize donor database and other computerized tracking systems to generate orders and update donor contact notes
  • Generate donor reports to communicate monthly poundage to internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate the sourcing acknowledgement process, including timely and proper recognition of food donation and other gifts

Other Duties:

  • Aid in the administration of general and virtual food drives monitoring donations to ensure progress against goals
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of food donor recognition event(s)
  • Provide other administrative support as needed
  • Provide backup support to the Corporate Engagement Coordinator as needed
  • Work with Fundraising Operations team to ensure data integrity of donor records, ensuring all coding, activity and strategy information is current

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ work experience, preferably in customer service, food industry or related experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Raiser’s Edge
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to set priorities, manage projects and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
