Fond du Lac County is Hiring a Psychiatrist Near Fond Du Lac, WI

Provides clinical treatment to clients of the Department of Community Programs. Provides clinical consultation to division managers and staff in areas relating to mental health, developmental disabilities and substance use. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team.
*Seeking Full Time, Part Time, Per Diem, On-Call, and ContractedThe following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. 
  • Provides direct service to inpatients and outpatients of the Department. The Employee’s principle duties and majority of the time will be in direct patient treatment either providing such treatment directly or in consultation in relation to inpatients or outpatients being treated by the Department.
  • Examines, diagnoses, treats and evaluates patients of mental health and substance use treatment programs.
  • Provides continuing psychiatric care of patients and makes appropriate dispositional recommendations. 
  • Monitors the medical condition of patients by providing treatment and/or referrals as appropriate.
  • Provides leadership for the intensive treatment program and services that includes: admission interviews, assessments and evaluations, psychiatric and medical work-ups, treatment team leadership, medication management, on-call provision of emergency psychiatric and medical treatment, provision of individual, group and family therapies and provision of clinical supervision to other professionals and para-professionals
  • Ensures development and documentation of comprehensive multidisciplinary treatment plans based on individualized patient needs. 
  • Provides consultation and education service to Department of Community Programs’ staff and community agencies individually, and in conjunction with other professionals, which shall include, but not be limited to, nurses, psychiatric social workers, psychologists, etc. The time expended in the performance of duties which are essentially the area of the public relations and education shall be limited in relation to the total time expended on direct patient care and will be subject to the limitations set forth by the Director. 
  • Assists in the management of the clinical departments of nursing, social work, psychiatry, psychology and occupational therapy of the Department of Community Programs.
  • Provides recommendations, plans for implementation of recommendations, including continued assessment of the services rendered by the Department through written and oral communication, including but not exclusive of written minutes of the regular meetings of the Medical Staff.
  • Provides Court related clinical duties such as: assessments, expert testimony, reports and meetings
  • Maintains responsibility for safe client care through the use of appropriate planning, implementation and evaluation procedures. 
  • Maintains documentation in accordance with departmental and Medical Staff Bylaw approved standards.
  • Participates in staff meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Complies with all safety and quality assurance standards.
  • Maintains the confidential nature of client and business information at all times.
  • Demonstrates awareness of departmental objectives and priorities and complies with all applicable departmental policies and procedures. 
  • Interfaces with families for consent and support of psychopharmacological interventions as necessary.
  • Reviews patient/client medical records for the understanding of individualized needs and auditing of compliance to regulatory standards.
  • Responsible for conducting peer reviews with insurance providers.
  • Effectively identifies, conceptualizes and communicates criteria specific to the level of treatment and formulates an effective appeal for insurance carriers as necessary.
  • Provides second opinion evaluations when needed. 
  • Completes quarterly peer reviews as assigned by the Medical Director or designee. 
  • On-call for the Crisis Line and Acute Unit as scheduled. Weekend rounds on the Acute Unit (Saturday and Sunday) of the week on-call.
  • DUTY HOURS-OUTSIDE CONSULTATION: Employee shall devote all of their time, attention and skills solely to the business of the Department during the hours they are employed by the Department. Notwithstanding the preceding, they may act as a consultant or as an advisor or practitioner on a fee-for-service basis in other settings so long as they confine their practice to those non-duty hours. 
  • Performs additional job-related duties, as necessary, within scope of responsibility.
Graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of an approved four-year residency in psychiatry or current enrollment in an approved training program with completion of four years residency within twelve months of employment. Possession of an unrestricted license or eligibility to receive an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Wisconsin. Possession of or eligibility to receive a Drug Enforcement Agency License.
