The Role

Foley Equipment is the authorized Caterpillar & Shuttlewagon dealer in Kansas and NW Missouri.

Our Railcar Mover Resident Field Technician is primarily responsible for troubleshooting, servicing and repairing railcar movers at the customer’s worksite. You represent Foley Equipment off-site and help our customers with critical repairs.

Hourly Base Rate: $32.74 - $61.60 / hour

Candidate will operate as a Resident Field Technician in the St. Louis, MO metro area

Job duties:

• Perform repair and preventive maintenance on railcar moving equipment and evaluating for other preventative maintenance items to address with the customer.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical repairs and adjustments
• Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments
• Some troubleshooting on equipment may occasionally be required
• Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers on their repairs
• Develop and maintain long-lasting working relationships with customers
• Must be willing to work overtime as required by fluctuating workloads and available for after-hours calls as needed
• Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.

Our Ideal Candidate:

• Basic mechanical knowledge including mechanical, electrical and hydraulics 
• General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments
• Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins and other related publications
• Ability to obtain a Class A or B CDL

What will put you ahead:

• Experience working within the diesel mechanics industry 
• Railcar mover maintenace and repair expereince (Shuttlewagon preferred)
• Understand crane hoist and rigging equipment (preferred)
• Stable work history
• Valid Class A CDL
