Focus Technology Solutions Inc is Hiring a Data Engineer Near Boston, MA

We have a great opportunity for a Data Engineer to join our growing Data & Analytics team! You will be an integral part of a collaborative engineering team specializing in building modern data pipelines for our customers. 

Some responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborate with customers, data analysts, product managers, data architects and engineers to define requirements, design solutions and build/test/deploy robust data pipeline architectures
  • Possess a deep and versatile technical and functional skill set to support end-to-end analytics across a variety of industries
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements
  • Identify, design, and implement process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability and elasticity
  • All other duties, as assigned

Skills:

  • Advanced SQL skills and comfort with query engines such as Athena, PrestoDB, Snowflake, BigQuery.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (JavaScript, Python, or Ruby)
  • Comfort with Linux and Windows command line functionality
  • Exposure to multiple cloud providers: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud
  • Knowledge of presentation tools such as ThoughtSpot, Tableau, Looker, or Power BI
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets
  • Working knowledge of message queues, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores
  • Solid understanding of API and data security
  • Experience working with diverse environments
  • Exceptional customer relations skills to engage and service customers effectively
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, detail-oriented and time management skills
  • Consistently maintains a high attention to detail
  • Works independently and collaboratively to resolve problems to ensure on time delivery
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Adaptability to changing priorities, as needed
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality, professionalism and a courteous demeanor

Education and Experience: 

  • 5 years of experience in database and data pipeline development
  • 5 years of experience with Data warehousing methodologies and modelling techniques
  • 2 years of experience working in Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) Analytical Datastores such as: Netezza, Teradata
  • 2 years of hands-on experience in Cloud technologies such as
    • AWS - S3, Glacier, EC2, Lambda, SQS, Redshift
    • Azure - ADLS, Virtual Machine, Functions, SQL Data warehouse
    • GCP - Cloud Storage, Compute Engine, Cloud Functions, Big Query
  • Proven experience working with both cloud and on-premise DBMSs such as: Snowflake, RedShift, BigQuery, SQL Server, and Oracle
  • Proven experience working with structured and semi-structured data
  • Hands-on experience working with and creating RESTful web services and APIs
