Fluor is seeking candidates for the I-35 Northeast Expansion (NEX) South project in San Antonio, TX. Fluor’s scope includes the design and construction of approximately four miles of elevated lanes, three in each direction, and associated interchanges at either end of the project. The I-35 NEX South Project will add additional capacity to one of the most congested corridors in the state, which handles more than 140,000 vehicles per day.Reports to the Construction Manager. Manages Yard and batch personnel, truck drivers and support staff.The Yard Superintendent coordinates and schedules all activities related to supporting construction operations from LSC’s laydown yard. This includes material receiving, equipment dispatch and maintenance, concrete batch plant operations, driver coordination for equipment and material delivery to site, and coordination of security measures to prevent loss. Coordinates with construction and batch plant operations to schedule material and manpower resources for concrete production. Provides guidance and participates in the career and professional development of personnel under their supervision. Reports the status of the yard operations to management. Maintains contact with suppliers and organizations outside the company with responsibility for providing specialized services. Has equipment troubleshooting skills and coordinates necessary repairs. Provides instruction and training for special processes and procedures.• Proactively manages equipment repairs and preventive maintenance schedule in coordination with Equipment Department. • Works with construction site superintendents to for schedule coordination.• Coordinates support staff (quality, subcontractors, etc) working within the yard. • Organize and prioritize a variety of complex operations and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines• Interface with team members to provide input as necessary to ensure that Project Controls reporting is accurate and timely• Coordinates material deliveries in and out of yard.• Other duties as assigned• Craft certification, training, and experience appropriate for assignment scope; construction related experience equal to twelve (12) years• Minimum 10 years of experience supervising ready mix concrete production operations, maintenance, and dispatching.• CDL required or able to be obtained.• Proven ability promoting outstanding customer service and client relations• Excellent skills in interpersonal relations, conflict resolution• Basic computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets and electronic presentation programs• Functional proficiency in project controls, human relations, industrial relations, and contract management as it applicable to assigned area of responsibility• Demonstrated strong decision making, critical thinking and problem solving skills• Knowledge of Command Alcon batch software• Technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical systems• Trouble shooting skills• Results oriented individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and timelines.• Commitment to working in a team environment.• Strong oral and written communications skills.• Typically direct subordinate Craft Superintendents within assigned craft, and other line supervision within assigned craft such as General Foremen and Foremen; depending on job size and complexity• Typically serve as lead person to coordinate all activities within their assigned scope in an active construction work area• Coordinate and implement indirect activities, internal and external, required to support a productive construction execution; including functional staff support, support craft activities, and any other resource necessary to assure a safe and quality execution• Generally responsible to assure all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is in full compliance with all pertinent requirements• Typically represent the company as the in situ senior representative for assigned craft• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
