Fluor is Hiring an Industrial Maintenance Technician Near Montville, CT

Fluor has an immediate opening for a Shift Maintenance Tech at a recycled cardboard/linerboard manufacturing facility in Montville, CT. This position will be primarily responsible for 24/7 mill operation, proficient in technical systems (electrical, plumbing, basic welding, mechanical, and service functions). Performs diagnostics, repairs, and/or modifications on rotating shifts at times with minimal supervision. Rotating shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, will start after an initial training period on day shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Complies with all Fluor Corporation safety requirements and programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, uses tact and professionalism, exchanges knowledge, information and ideas with others inside and outside immediate organization. Has influence on team results.
  • Uses technical knowledge, tools, techniques and procedures to identify, understand and resolve technical problems.
  • Willing to work a flex shift, rotating days, nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to use a wide variety of standard and specialized tools and other related equipment, including test equipment.
  • Must work safely keeping abreast of and adhering to all established safety procedures. Makes recommendations and may help develop safety and environmental procedures.
  • Read blueprints, P&ID’s, single-line, ladder logic and wiring schematics.
  • Use computerized CMMS system to enter data.
  • Troubleshoot and repair 3 phase 460 vac motor starter circuits and 120 VAC control circuits.
  • Retains technical competency by pursuing formal or informal training in primary areas of knowledge. Expands abilities by pursuing skills and knowledge in other areas.
  • Works overtime (both scheduled and emergency), after-hours (early morning or late night), weekends and Holidays as required. Shift schedule will be adjusted as necessary by Management in order to provide the best possible coverage and operation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Trade school graduate preferred
  • 4 years applicable work experience required
  • 2 years of building or industrial equipment maintenance experience preferred
  • Must have basic troubleshooting skills for 460 VAC motors, 4-20mA loops and 120 VAC control circuits.
  • Must have experience in utilizing Lock Tag & Try and Confined Space procedures.
  • Must be proficient in multiple technical fields.
  • Must have ability to read and work from building layouts and manufacturers equipment specifications.
