Floyd Snider is Hiring a Senior Environmental Planner Near Seattle, WA

Description:

Floyd|Snider is looking to add a Senior Environmental Planner to our collaborative team. We're looking for someone who exemplifies our commitment to technical excellence, environmental responsibility, and customer service.

The primary role will be to manage projects and project teams to develop comprehensive permit applications and obtain environmental permits and approvals for a wide range of public and private projects.

You'll be a key member of the project team, collaborating with engineers and technical experts to develop strategic project documents. You'll work with the regulatory agencies, beginning early in project design to confirm the regulatory process, potential environmental impacts, and unique requirements for the project. You'll communicate directly with clients to ensure success in all phases of work.

Here's our list of must-haves:

  • Degree in environmental science, planning, policy, or a related field
  • 10 years of environmental planning experience, ideally in Washington
  • Ability to lead and produce documents on a range of environmental permitting projects
  • Experience with federal, state, and local permitting
  • Strong familiarity with SEPA and NEPA documentation, JARPA and specific experience with Clean Water Act Section 404/401, Shoreline Master Program consistency analyses, Comprehensive land use permit applications, and Endangered Species Act and Section 106 documents

Pay and Benefits

This is a full-time, permanent position. Planners with 10 – 15 years of experience earn a salary range of $105k – $120k annually and will have the title of Environmental Planner III. Planners with 15 – 20 years of experience earn a salary range of $120k – $135k and will have the title of Senior Environmental Planner. We offer quarterly merit-based bonus opportunities, equity and ownership options, 401K, medical insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, long-term disability insurance, and life insurance. We also offer 11 paid holidays and 25 days of paid time off per year.

Floyd|Snider provides employees with a flexible work schedule that includes core hours 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Most staff are expected to work onsite 2 – 3 days per week, depending on their distance from our office.

Project work may require you to work more than your standard billable work week, but Floyd|Snider provides extra time off to recognize this effort. Regional travel is a small part of this role. You won't typically go more than 3 hours away, and we'll cover your expenses.

The Details

Beyond your relevant expertise, we're looking for someone with the following skills:

  • Verbal and written communication - you adjust your style to suit the audience and turn technical info into reader-friendly content without losing the meaning.
  • Critical thinking – you ask probing questions and synthesize complex information to understand the project and its context, then develop that into a strategic permitting approach.
  • Detail-oriented – the information you'll handle can be dense, the regulations are complex, and the projects are all different. You take care to review the details, because you know that details make a successful application.

You can count on growing here, as the scope of your portfolio and external contact will be much broader than you might find at a larger firm. You'll have the opportunity to mentor other environmental planners on the team while interacting regularly with principals who invest in your growth.
