Client Overview:

Established over 100 years ago in the Milwaukee area, my client is looking for an Area Manager with heavy civil (asphalt, excavating, bridge, concrete, rail) experience that can run and operate an office in Milwaukee, WI. This position is key for my clients 2024/2025/2026 growth plans and they are prepared to invest heavily in this region. This Area Manager will have full control over processes, hiring, client communications, budgets and more. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Works closely with the estimating team for work in geographical area. Assists estimating, as needed, by working directly with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal resources to successfully provide proposals for projects.
• Assists estimating in negotiating contracts with clients through contract execution stage.
• Upon project award, leads project team during project setup through project execution. Mentorship and oversite of PM staff for work in this geographical area.
• Continues to promote the dominant presence when it comes to Edgerton's areas of expertise in the geographical area.
• Looks for opportunities to expand in other markets within area.
• Business Development; develops relationships with new clients and vendors in geographic area.
• Provides SQE operational oversite on the projects in assigned geographic area.
• Assists in regional scheduling, resource sharing and overall flow of work in this area.
• Links field and estimating by sharing information necessary for company success.
• Provides support, as needed, for PM's and field staff to ensure safe execution of our work, trouble shoot problems, negotiating change orders, resource conflicts and customer relations.
• Provides personnel leadership within its area.
• Works with General Superintendent and President on long range resource needs or business ventures in given area.
• Provides guidance of general flow of projects within area to create synergies and downstream business opportunities.
• Works closely with General Manager of Utilities on operational objectives in given area related to utilities.
• Ability to manage financial risks and make sound decisions.
• Provide financial oversite and support for project staff.
• Reviews variance reports and other project related financials with the project staff.
• Has P&L responsibilities

Candidate Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field/equivalent experience
• Heavy Civil background with 8-15 years managing civil construction projects
