Location: 

Located in beautiful Deland, Florida, our historic victorian home setting provides the perfect setting for thorough consultations and tailored patient care in a comfortable, non-clinical setting!

FloridaWild is a fast paced integrative veterinary hospital looking to add new veterinary technicians to our team. We offer a variety of services in addition to basic veterinary care including exotic & wildlife care, acupuncture, orthopedic manipulation therapy, homeopathy and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.

We are dedicated to providing the highest standard of veterinary medicine to our patients and put the same effort into creating a phenomenal work environment for our staff.

We ensure that all our team members have the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. Multitasking, good communication and exceptional customer service skills are required for this position. Must have a great attitude and work well as part of a team.

Minimum of 2 year veterinary experience is required. Experience with exotics and Avimark software are a plus. Some weekend and holiday shifts are required. Pay is based on experience and skill set.

Job Summary: This position provides leadership and training to the medical support staff in the operation of a small animal facility in accordance with hospital policy and procedures and provides medical care to patients as allowed in the veterinary practice act. The Veterinary Technician will be able to communicate effectively with employees and clients and have great attention to detail and organizational abilities. 

Responsibilities

How you'll make an impact: 

  • Maintain and uphold Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP. 
  • Provide guidance to the support staff to assure that the shift flows well
  • Provide input to the hospital manager for 360-degree employee performance evaluations.
  • Provide patient care under the supervision and direction of a DVM. 
  • Maintain excellent client communication. 
  • Record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and accurate information.
  • Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients.
  • Answer client’s inquiries about basic animal care questions and routine procedures; handle client’s medical questions with confidence and direct to veterinarians when appropriate. 

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Some veterinary industry experience required. 
  • Must be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from but not limited to laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing skills. 
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and ability to handle a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis. 
  • Ability to give SQ, IM and IV injections. 
  • Knowledge of usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and ability to readily explain them to the clients.
