WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Lab Manager in the IT department performs all functions required for the operation and maintenance of a multi-campus, multi-lab setting Information Technology Department.

CHARACTERISTICS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as departmental safety and compliance officer for the technology within the labs. Carries out routine inspections and maintenance to ensure that labs are operating to their maximum potential and that they comply with safety and Florida Right to Know legislation regarding lab settings. Provides safety and maintenance training to student workers.

Accounts for all equipment in use and maintains and updates a list for surplus items. Regularly communicates with the Dean and other members of the IT department to ensure that up-to-date equipment and supplies are in use and on-hand.

Works with inventory and facility control personnel to ensure that all equipment is properly documented, stored, used, and where applicable, placed in surplus according to the regulations and operating procedures of FSCJ’s Board of Trustees and the administration.

Communicates needs and vision with the leadership at FSCJ and the Dean of IT to ensure that equipment is meeting the needs of the students and that it is used in accordance with policies and procedures at FSCJ.

Identifies, interviews, recommends, trains, and supervises student lab assistants. Ensures that IT students who use the lab are supported via tutoring, training, or other means that will support their use of the technology learning lab and the equipment provided through these labs.

Ensures that all technology labs of the IT department are maintained, no matter the campus or room number.

Other duties as assigned and as it relates to supporting students in the learning technologies provided through the IT labs at FSCJ.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

At a minimum, the selected candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in a technology or related field and/or a combination of education and/or IT industry experience commensurate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
