Description
The Public Information Officer will oversee and manage the organization’s external communications and media relations, building, maintaining, and preserving a positive public image for the organization. Work is performed under the administrative direction of the Chief of Staff/Support Services, and considerable independent judgment, discretion, and initiative are exercised in carrying out daily activities.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or closely related field; Five (5) years’ experience in public relations, communications, or related field required, with supervisory experience preferred.
Required Licenses/Certificates:
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

Regular use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer, still and video cameras, and editing software, etc.)
ACCURACY
Probably errors would normally not be detected in succeeding operations and could possibly affect organization-patron relationship, involve re-work, or additional expenditures in order to properly resolve the error.
PUBLIC CONTACT
Regular contacts with patrons initiated by the employee. Involves furnishing and obtaining information and, attempting to influence the decisions of those contacted. Failure to exercise proper judgment may result in important losses to the organization.
EMPLOYEE CONTACT
Contact with other departments or offices and also frequently with individuals in middle level positions; consulting on problems that necessitate judgment and tact, plus frequent contact with senior level internal officials.
