Job Title: Pharmacy Technician - PART TIME/FULL TIME

Job Summary: Assist the pharmacist in the filling and dispensing of prescriptions and maintenance of the pharmacy department. 1 year of community, retail experience required and technician certification by the State of Florida

Essential Functions of the Position:

• Prescription Filling:
  • Make sure all patient information is correct and current, including insurance. Update in computer when necessary.
  • Verify the contents of the prescription, drug, strength, quantity, directions, physicians name, DEA, NPI, and license.
  • Computer entry
  • Count and verify via workpath. Make sure all prescriptions for one patient are in one basket.
  • Fax, e-request, or call for refill or prior authorization requests as needed.
  • Maintain work flow to keep wait times to a minimum (process prescriptions in order)
  • Do IOU's after order arrives daily
• File Maintenance
  • Sort, band and file loose filled prescriptions on a daily basis.
  • Pull and unfill the return-to-stock prescriptions on a weekly basis.
  • Add new drugs to pdx and workpath systems as required.
• Department Maintenance
  • Fill bottles and vials under counters and in robot at least on a daily basis (more often as needed).
  • Fill printers and fax machine as needed.
  • Check and fill and clean robot daily.
  • Return open prescription bottles to shelves as needed (make sure there is not more than one open bottle and open bottles are in front).
  • Clean shelves and pull outdates on an ongoing basis (at least monthly)
  • Check in order and put it away daily
  • Notify pharmacist if narcotic orders are needed and if there are any specific needs
• The above is a general guideline and is not meant to limit the responsibilities of the technician. It also the duty of all pharmacy staff to assist the pharmacy clerk with patient service as needed. If the clerks are on the sales floor or with customers, one or more of the staff should cover the register and drive-through as needed.

Physical and Mental Demands:

• Must be able to stand for long periods
• Some medium lifting
• Above normal concentration and above normal complexity pf decision making
• High level of verbal and written communication skills
• High level of social skills.
• Must be able to multi-task.

Occupational Exposure:

• Very low risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards

Job Qualifications:

• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Technician Certification by the State of Florida
• Strong customer service orientation
• Excellent telephone etiquette
• Above average computer proficiency
• Strong team player
• 1 year of community, retail experience
