If so, FDC offers full-time employment with on-the-job training & paid academy. You will receive a 160-hour onboarding program followed by a 13-week Corrections Academy to ensure your success as a Correctional Officer.

The FDC is the third largest state corrections system in the US and the largest state agency in Florida. The Department has twenty-five thousand authorized positions, 80 percent of which are Certified Correctional Officers.

No experience is necessary to apply, and all training is provided.

Compensation: $22 hourly based on a standard 8.5-hour shift schedule

Correctional Officers are responsible for the supervision, care, custody, control, and physical restraint, when necessary, of inmates in a Correctional Institution or facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Be at least 18 years of age (no maximum age restriction)
• Be a United States Citizen
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement, nor have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States. Any person who, after July 1, 1981, pleads guilty or nolo contendere to or is found guilty of a felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement shall not be eligible for employment or appointment as an officer, notwithstanding suspension of sentence or withholding of adjudication.
• Pass a medical examination and drug test.
• Have a good moral character as determined by a background investigation.
