Florence 1 Human Resources is Hiring a Speech Pathologist Near Florence, SC

TITLE: Speech Pathologist 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. MA/MS (or Ph.D.) Speech Therapy
  2. SC LLR license and ASHA certification.
    • For issuance of an educator credential, the State Board of Education (SBE) and the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) require successful completion of an approved preparation program for SLPs at the master’s level (or higher).
  3. SDE certification requirements for speech language therapist/pathologist.
  4. Valid certification in speech pathology in South Carolina.
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides a program of therapy to meet individual needs of speech/language and hearing disabled students.
  2. Employs reliable assessment procedures, techniques, and standardized tests necessary for thorough and accurate diagnosis and assessment of student needs and behaviors related to voice, fluency, articulation, and hearing.
  3.  Provides screening to identify speech/language disabled students at regular intervals and specified levels.
  4. Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual student’s needs and correct existing speech or language disabilities.
  5. Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for speech/language improvement.
  6. Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
  7. Assists in proper referrals of individuals to general practitioners, audiologists, and otolaryngologists in the community as appropriate.
  8. Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the students’ daily activities.
  9. Keep thorough on-going records for the individual students receiving therapy or other school-provided speech/language services through evaluations, IEPs, etc.
  10. Maintains lists of referred, screened, and eligible students as well as a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services.
  11. Evaluates the condition of work facilities and equipment in relation to student needs and makes recommendations to the appropriate supervisor and/or administrator.
  12. Provides and follows schedules for assigned schools and informs appropriate personnel of any departure from the schedule.
  13.  Participates in self-designed and district staff development activities in order to promote own professional growth.
  14.  Other duties as requested.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

190-day contract.

Salary and work year to be established by the district.
