Florence 1 Human Resources is Hiring an APEX Monitor Near Florence, SC

TITLE: In School Supension (ISS) Monitor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. Associates degree or higher preferred.
  3. Required score on the Workkeys test.

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOAL: The ISS Monitor position is responsible for ensuring that students that are placed in the In-School Suspension Program work on study habits, classroom behavior skills, and a positive self-image. This position is also responsible for coordinating student receipt and completion/progress of classroom assignments and activities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: 

  1. Ability to communicate in writing and verbally; proficient with Microsoft Office.
  2. Strong interpersonal skills and patience.
  3. Applicant should have knowledge of school and classroom rules, procedures, and practices. 
  4. Flexible and can de-escalate potentially controversial situations. Applicant should have experience working with students and knowledge of conflict resolution techniques is strongly encouraged.
  5. Can work independently and in a team setting.
  6. Attention to detail and organized.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinates, provides, and supervises instructional and behavioral activities for students assigned to ISS.
  2. Coordinates assignments and activities with classroom teachers of referred students; provides tutorial assistance as needed and monitors student’s class work while in ISS.
  3. Assists students in examining misbehavior and developing strategies to prevent reoccurrences.
  4. Works with other school personnel to assist students in the development of techniques to control and express anger constructively, encourage positive student behavior, and promote safety in the school.
  5. Assigns and oversees additional assignments related to student infractions.
  6. Contacts parents regarding student conduct and behavior modification plans.
  7. Performs routine administrative office tasks as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, sending and receiving faxes and emails, entering and retrieving data.
  8. Other duties as requested.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190 day-work agreement; CA20 salary scale. Salary and work year to be established by the district.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
