Job Summary:

The Hospital Administrator will oversee the day-to-day operations of the hospital. It requires providing direction and support to hospital leadership, teams, and individuals, as well as, continuous observation and analysis of processes and procedures to achieve and maintain operational excellence, top-notch clinical performance, and quality patient care. The Hospital Administrator will work with the management team, owner, and others who support the effective operations of the business, to develop short- and long-term objectives that align with the company culture and vision. The Hospital Administrator will direct and coordinate the organization’s financials, and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, or increase efficiency.

The Hospital Administrator will represent the organization and promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Flora Family Veterinary Hospital with our team, in our community, and while participating in other official functions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage administrative tasks and ensure smooth operations within the organization
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments, meetings, and events
  • Maintain and update records, databases, and filing systems
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence as needed
  • Manage financial tasks such as invoicing, budgeting, and expense tracking
  • Provide support to staff members and address their inquiries or concerns
  • Coordinate acquisition of and track purchase orders for drugs, uniforms, equipment
  • Understand and ensure compliance with Contract Law as it pertains to associates, staff, and clients
  • Understand the ethical requirements of veterinary practice outlined by the AAHA, AVMA, and VHMA code of ethics, and ensure that staff fulfill their ethical responsibilities
  • Maintain protocols for hospital procedures and risk management plans

Experience:

  • Previous experience in an administrative role
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in using computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and Cornerstone.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Physical and Travel Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Periodic overnight travel for meetings and conferences
