Purpose of Position

The Tax Accountant is responsible for assisting the Tax Manager with the data gathering process and preparation of supporting schedules for the Federal, state and local and foreign tax returns. Additionally, the Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing supporting calculations to file indirect tax returns, such as sales & use and value-added tax (VAT) returns, which will involve coordination with third-party service providers.

This position provides support to Tax management with tax planning, tax research, and other tax projects as assigned.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The following duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned. 

• Support the global indirect tax compliance, reporting, and accounting activities with internal and external parties, including US sales/use tax and international VAT. This will include assisting with the data gathering process and preparation of supporting schedules to accurately and timely file tax returns.
• Support the Tax Manager with data gathering and the preparation of supporting schedules to assist with the tax compliance process for FlightSafety International.
• Support the Tax Manager with the gathering data and preparation of ASC 740 calculations, tax provision calculations, reconciliation of tac accounts and cash tax.
• Research tax consequences of transactions.

Minimum Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, taxation or related field

Minimum Experience

• 2-4 years’ relevant experience
• CPA preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Experience in the field of taxation required, including experience in the areas of tax research and tax compliance.
• Good understanding of taxation, tax concepts, planning, and compliance.
• Ability to research various tax issues, including federal, state/local and indirect taxes.
• FAS 109 experience preferred.
• Experience with preparation of supporting schedules and review of Federal and multi-state income tax compliance.
• Experience with multi-national companies filing consolidated returns preferred.
