How You Will Make an Impact:

The School Counselor utilizes leadership, advocacy, and collaboration to promote the social, emotional, and academic development of students, provides preventative services, and responds to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses personal, social, academic, and career development for all students. This position will consult, collaborate, and communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other educational/community resources regarding students with identified concerns and needs. This position reports to the Principal or Designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Michigan School Guidance Counselor License, or a valid Michigan secondary teacher certificate with an endorsement in guidance and counseling is required.
  • Previous counseling experience, preferably in a high school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Michigan's educational and graduation requirements.
  • Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Education and Student Information Systems.
  • Ability to travel in the performance of the job and duties are required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds
