Senior Software Engineer - Java 8

The Senior Java Developer will play a key role in designing and developing the new platform to support our growing business in fixed income portfolio analytics. The platform is architected as a distributed system of services to manage data-intensive computations of fixed income analytics across a large compute farm. We leverage the best-in-breed software tools and development practices in the Java environment.

Several strategic and business-critical development initiatives are underway to develop and extend our complex Fixed Income and Equity analytics using the latest technologies. We are also committed to leveraging the best practices in Object-Oriented Design and Development in this endeavor. To support rapid development, we continue to invest in developing the highest level of code quality and comprehensive test coverage. In addition to developing new automated tests and scenarios, we look for ways to break our code so we can identify issues quickly. This enables us to deploy complex, reliable, and extensible solutions for our customers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with key business and technology stakeholders to define the functional and technical design.

• Work closely with the software engineering team and senior leadership to design and implement end-to-end solutions.

• Design, develop and implement full-stack solutions using Java 8 or above.

• Lead and/or participate in project efforts using an Agile development methodology.

• Collaborate with QA to develop comprehensive and appropriate test strategies for each release.

• Develop system and training documentation as needed.

• Must be able to work flexible hours as needed to support project timelines and deliver efforts on time.

• Provide technical programming support or provide subject matter expertise to other team members as needed.

Knowledge and Experience

• 5 years of applied work experience developing OO solutions using Java 8 or above

• Familiarity with the Spring Framework v4.

• Enthusiastic advocate and expert in modern full software development lifecycle practices

• Must be devoted to delivering quality and well-tested software

• Excellent communication skills.

• Good experience developing full-stack solutions for Linux/Windows and web-based solutions. Experience with React, Javascript, and/or Typescript is a plus.

• Good knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL

• Experience developing and integrating solutions in cloud environments such as AWS is desirable

• Experience designing and implementing efficient computing methods to support scalable analytics computing across large datasets.
