Director Facility Development/Marine Terminal Infrastructure

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Marine Terminal Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. As a Marine Terminal Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of marine terminals and associated infrastructure. Your expertise will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of our maritime facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Terminal Infrastructure Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and design marine terminal infrastructure, including berths, piers, wharves, bulkheads, and related structures. Ensure designs adhere to safety, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Navigate the permitting process and ensure all necessary permits and approvals are obtained from relevant regulatory agencies. Stay updated on local, state, and federal regulations related to maritime operations, environmental protection, and safety.
  • Structural Analysis: Conduct thorough structural analysis and calculations to guarantee the stability and resilience of terminal infrastructure. Account for factors such as wave action, seismic forces, and vessel loads.
  • Materials Selection: Make informed decisions regarding construction materials and methods, considering factors like durability, corrosion resistance, and cost-efficiency.
  • Project Management: Oversee construction projects from inception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and quality control. Coordinate closely with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure projects are on time and within budget.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Implement environmental protection measures, such as erosion control, sediment management, and pollution prevention, to minimize the environmental impact of terminal operations.
  • Safety Initiatives: Prioritize safety across all aspects of terminal design and operation. Develop and enforce safety protocols for terminal personnel and visitors.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Establish comprehensive maintenance programs to extend the lifespan and functionality of terminal infrastructure. Schedule and supervise repairs as necessary.
  • Hydrodynamic Analysis: Analyze hydrodynamic factors, including tidal currents, wave action, and sediment transport, to optimize berth and channel designs for safe and efficient vessel navigation.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities, and create mitigation strategies to enhance terminal resilience against natural disasters and climate change impacts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree or specialized training in maritime engineering is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is often required.
  • 8 plus years of of experience with engineering planning and design in maritime terminal/facility environment
  • Profound knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices, especially in the context of marine and coastal engineering.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for structural analysis, design, and modeling, including Python or other scripting language
  • Familiarity with maritime regulations, environmental guidelines, and safety standards.
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to thrive in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Outstanding communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and contractors.
